The OGT 2025 conference (XXX International Conference and Exhibition) was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and started as a major international forum organized by the state concerns “Turkmenneft” and “Turkmengaz.” The main goal of the event was to ensure the sustainable development of Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector, strengthen international cooperation in the energy industry, and introduce promising oil and gas projects. More than 1,500 delegates and over a hundred companies from dozens of countries participated in the forum.
Turkmenistan possesses enormous natural gas reserves, which are used not only as an export commodity but also as a driving force for sustainable economic growth. Within the framework of the state strategy, measures are consistently being implemented to diversify export directions, develop the processing industry and modern petrochemical clusters, implement digital systems, increase sector efficiency, and expand international cooperation in the fuel and energy sector through large-scale infrastructure projects.
Turkmenistan’s high value-added production strategy includes significant investments in the production of ammonia, mineral fertilizers, polymers, and other petrochemical products. This creates new jobs and attracts foreign technologies.
At the OGT 2025 exhibition, the country’s ministries, sectoral agencies, and local and international oil and gas companies presented their projects and solutions: CNPC — integrated solutions for gas extraction and transportation; Eni — innovative technologies and liquefied gas projects; Baker Hughes, Sumitomo, Dragon Oil, PETRONAS — energy, digital technologies, and gas processing projects; Turkmen companies — oil and gas, logistics, services, and equipment.
During the forum, key topics were discussed, including diversifying energy exports and developing pipeline infrastructure, reducing methane and other carbon emissions, implementing innovative technologies, expanding digitalization and mechanization, and emphasizing the role of natural gas in achieving sustainable development goals.
Plenary sessions featured speakers from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, PETRONAS, ADNOC, and other major international companies. As a result, expanding natural gas exports, strengthening international cooperation, and implementing innovative projects were identified as key strategic priorities.
Special attention at the conference was given to the Turkmenistan — Afghanistan — Pakistan — India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. This project is of strategic importance for the stable delivery of Turkmen gas to international markets and ensuring regional energy security. The next phase of the TAPI project was inaugurated on the Serhetabat — Herat section.
The OGT 2025 forum became an important platform for strengthening global cooperation in the energy sector, widely implementing digital technologies, developing high value-added production, and enhancing regional energy security. Participation of leading companies and presentation of innovations is considered by Turkmenistan as a key step toward elevating the energy sector to a new level and boosting economic growth.
