Turkmenistan to take part in 43rd session of UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand in October

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov presented to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov a report on the work being done to further develop the country's multi-vector cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at a government meeting.

In this regard, a proposal was submitted to the head of state for consideration on the participation of our country's delegation in the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. The event will be held from October 30 to November 13, 2025 in Samarkand.

A proposal was also voiced regarding the financing of a number of projects through the Trust Fund established with the assistance of the head of state on the basis of the Framework Agreement between the Government of our country and UNESCO. Among them: "Our Heritage", "Youth, Peace and Security", "Creation of a Geopark in Turkmenistan", as well as a project aimed at strengthening measures to preserve the Amul Fortress, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, etc.

As noted, to date, in the context of strengthening the relevant legal framework, our country has acceded to 15 international UNESCO documents. According to the obligations arising from them, a number of objects of our intangible and historical-cultural heritage, as well as natural objects, have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List within the framework of national and multilateral nominations.

Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that our country actively cooperates with the UN and its specialized structures. Having approved the proposals aimed at further effective interaction with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the head of state instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to carry out the relevant work.
