President of Turkmenistan Meets with Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Committee for Economic Cooperation

On June 27, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Mr. Hiroyuki Tsubai, Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation, President of a machinery manufacturing company, and Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Committee for Economic Cooperation, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit.

Welcoming the guest, President Berdimuhamedov highlighted the long-term and strategic nature of Turkmen-Japanese relations, which are firmly grounded in mutual respect and support. The head of state also noted with appreciation the growing interest of Japanese business circles in the Turkmen market, which offers a favorable investment climate and all necessary conditions for effective and mutually beneficial cooperation.

President Berdimuhamedov recalled his official visit to Japan in April of this year, during which high-level talks were held and important agreements were reached. He fondly remembered his meeting at that time with Mr. Tsubai. The President further noted Turkmenistan’s active participation in Expo 2025, where it was the first country to hold a National Day and open its pavilion, underscoring the country’s commitment to international engagement.

Mr. Tsubai, in turn, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized the significance of the initiatives proposed by President Berdimuhamedov during their previous meeting in Japan. He confirmed that concrete steps are now being taken toward their implementation.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation. It was noted that Japanese companies are already making a substantial contribution to the development of Turkmenistan’s gas and chemical industries. At the same time, both sides acknowledged strong potential for expanding cooperation into new areas, supported by the favorable business environment in Turkmenistan.

Special emphasis was placed on the role of the Japan-Turkmen Committee for Economic Cooperation in facilitating and broadening targeted collaboration between the two countries.

President Berdimuhamedov noted that ITOCHU Corporation has participated in several major projects in Turkmenistan and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening the partnership with the company.

In conclusion, Mr. Tsubai expressed sincere gratitude to President Berdimuhamedov for the ongoing support and enabling environment created for international businesses operating in Turkmenistan. He underlined ITOCHU Corporation’s deep appreciation for its cooperation with Turkmenistan.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished Mr. Hiroyuki Tsubai continued success in his work and expressed confidence in the future development of strong and friendly ties between Turkmenistan and Japan.
