On August 15, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea Begench Durdyyev took part in the official events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the country's national holiday - Liberation Day, which were attended by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and other members of the government.
In his speech, President Lee Jae Myung emphasized the heroic struggle of the Korean people for freedom, the division of the Korean Peninsula and its desire for national reunification, the importance of keeping the peninsula free of nuclear weapons, the development of cooperation with Japan as a neighboring state despite historical contradictions, as well as the preparations carried out by the Korean side to ensure the successful holding of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which is scheduled to be held in the country in the third quarter of this year.
As part of the events, Ambassador Durdyyev had the opportunity to hold a brief conversation with the President of the Republic. The diplomat conveyed warm congratulations and heartfelt greetings to the head of state on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the holiday. The Korean side expressed gratitude for the congratulations and greetings and, in turn, asked to convey its greetings and best wishes to the Turkmen leadership.
