On June 27, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via the digital system, where a number of key issues related to national governance were discussed.
The first speaker was Chairwoman of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, who reported on ongoing efforts to further improve the country’s legislative framework.
She informed participants about preparations for the upcoming session of the national parliament, during which the draft of the new edition of the Civil Code will be reviewed and adopted. The agenda also includes draft laws of Turkmenistan such as: "On the Unified State Register of Voters," "On Amendments to the Customs Code of Turkmenistan," "On Amendments to the Law of Turkmenistan on the Customs Service," and "On Amendments to the Law of Turkmenistan on the Internal Affairs Bodies."
In addition, the Chairwoman provided an update on the steady development of cooperation with foreign parliaments and international organizations. As part of efforts to expand bilateral inter-parliamentary relations and share legislative experience, a meeting was held with a senator of the French Republic. Representatives of the Mejlis also took part in seminars organized jointly by international organizations and national government bodies.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of drafting laws that meet the requirements of the present day and continuing effective work in this direction.
